Things are looking (ketch)up!

I’ve really enjoyed working on this recipe.  First, there was the pouring over a dozen other homemade ketchup recipes for inspiration (I’m definitely trying Jamie’s at some point – it looks pretty tasty).

Then, there was the actual making of the ketchup.  A gorgeous smell of sweet tomatoes, warm ginger and tangy vinegar filled the whole house.  Poor Jacob rushed down thinking it was his lunch!

Of course there was the inevitable tasting – rarely a chore it must be said!  With something like ketchup, one feels that it really ought to be tried with something else to get its full effect, so out came the pork pies…

LASTLY, the sun finally came out briefly so I busied myself with trying to take a mood setting ketchup photo.  After a couple of shots, inspiration hit and I realised that what was missing was the distant hint of a glass of wine…  Always a martyr to my cause, I poured a glass and my picture was complete.  Shame to let it go to waste of course…
